The Washing Machine Overfloweth, Yet...

Habakkuk 3:17-19
17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,

18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.

19 The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to go on the heights.

I love this passage, I always have! I still remember my daddy preaching a sermon about it years ago. I was trying to put in more practical terms the other day. How could we, as mothers now, relate to this? So here it goes...

Though the cell phone was dropped in the toilet... again
And the washing machine overfloweth.
Though the baby just won't sleep
And you can't get your teenager out of bed.
Though there is only $2.29 left in the grocery budget
And it is only the 5th of the month.

Yet I will rejoice in the Lord.
I will be joyful in God my Savior.

The Sovereign Lord is my strength.
He makes my feet like the feet of a deer.
I can run like a gazelle to unplug the washer.
He enables me to go to new heights, and lows,
As I fish the cell phone out of the toilet,
Wipe it off and dial the nearest Pizza Hut.
After all if there is no money left for groceries, we'll have to order out.

  1. That is fantastic! I love the way you made it relate to all of us...you always make me smile!

  2. This is great. Funny and very true. I can definitly relate to it.

  3. I love this! This is just great and I can relate too. I actually lost a cell phone in the toilet. No cleaning it off, though because it was indeed gone. :-(

Thanks for letting me here from you!
